Nordic Walking was adopted as a popular sport in Germany, where I'm from, far earlier than in the UK. I remember newspaper and magazine articles, promotional material by sporting goods manufacturers, and Nordic Walking groups and courses appearing more widely in c. 2003.
It is therefore not surprising that Nordic Walking has seeped into German popular culture to a far greater extent. Reading picture books with my 2.5-year old daughter, I recently came across these two images:
Mein Sticker-Pixi, In der Stadt, Carlsen Verlag, 2011
Rotraut Susanne Berners Sommer-Wimmelbuch, Gerstenberg Verlag, 2015
So... is anyone up for analysing our three Nordic Walkers' technique? :-)
