Marion Endt-Jones
INWA Nordic Walking Instructor
Welcome!
I have been teaching, consulting and coaching in non-fitness contexts (most recently as a Part-time Lecturer in Arts Management & Museology at the University of Manchester and German teacher), but my interest in Nordic Walking goes back to training as a ski instructor in Germany in 1996/97 (my license is approx. BASI Alpine Ski Level 2 Instructor equivalent). I began Nordic Walking in the summer of 2004 with my local ski club, as a social off-season activity, and have been Nordic Walking ever since - 20 years in total! I qualified as an instructor with British Nordic Walking in July/August 2016.
I am a firm believer in the health benefits of Nordic Walking: since my active skiing days it has helped me through being diagnosed with degenerative arthritis (left knee) and with MS, as well as during and after pregnancy. I am passionate about passing on the benefits, including all the fun!
Teaching Nordic Walking to a wide range of people and seeing the massive difference it has made to their health, fitness and wellbeing - as well as experiencing the improvements it has brought to my own health - has deepened my interest in how exercise can help people manage a variety of health conditions. That's why I qualified as a Level 3 Exercise Referral Specialist in 2018.
We founded our community group, South Manchester Nordic Walkers, in March 2019 to make Nordic Walking accessible to even more people in South Manchester.
Having lived and worked in Manchester since 2004, I currently live in Withington with my husband and two daughters.
